Lobsang Sangay, head of the Tibetan Administration in exile, opened an art and craft exhibition at the Nyatri hall, Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala, north India.

The two days workshop organized by the Career Counseling Section of the Department of Education was attended by 25 students and teachers from nine schools in India and Nepal.

Mrs Dolkar Lhamo, head of the section spoke about the aims and objectives of introducing art and crafts in Tibetan schools.

Sangay applauded the new move as an improvement and added that researchers have proved that introducing art and craft at early stage in a child's life improves creativity and innovation later in life.

The workshop highlighted the importance of art and craft, and plans on taking this further to all other Tibetan schools in exile.
