China arrested a Tibetan nun from Dokha nunnery, Gadey County of Amdo Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture around 9am local time, August 26, 2014.

Kunsang Lhamo, 30, received a call from the local authorities a day before her arrest, while she was attending a patient at Golog hospital, asking her to report to the Gade county station.

According to Lhamo's brother who currently lives in Europe, the local officials in Gadey initially disguised themselves as post office representatives on the phone asking Lhamo to collect a package for her from the west. When he (the brother) denied sending her any such package, the officials admitted that they were calling from the local police station and ordered her to report there.

Lhamo accompanied by a friend reported to the station the following morning as instructed, where she was arrested with the accussation that she had committed a serious crime. Lhamo was not briefed on her alleged crime. Instead, the authorities told her the order came directly from their headquarters in Qinghai, and detained her at the local Gade county police station. The friend was then asked to bring some clothes and food while Lhamo remained under custody.

According to the source, Chinese authorities searched the nun's house following her arrest, and confiscated her mobile phone and other belongings.
